Obituary for Stephen Whitson

Stephen Lee Whitson, 73 of Woodlyn, PA, passed away peacefully at home on July 1,2017.
Born and raised in West Chester, PA, he resided in Delaware County for the last 42 years. He was a proud member of Steamfitters Union Local 420 for over 40 years.
Steve was a car enthusiast who rescued and restored many vechicles. He enjoyed traveling, relaxing in the mountains and fishing with family and friends.
The care Steve received from Doctor Vivacqua his associates, nurses and staff members and the two south wing in Crozer Chester Medical Center was of the highest caliber.
During his courageous fight with cancer Steve never lost his unique sense of humor. He was comforted by the prayers and encouragement he received by his family and friends and the graces he received from God through the intercession of Padre Pio.
He was preceded in death by his father Goffery Whitson and his mother Marion E. (Purdy) Whitson. His brothers Harry “Lonnie”, Douglas and Mark Whitson and his sister Sondra Whitson-Pelly.
Survived by his beloved wife: Gertrude (DePietro) Whitson. His sons Thomas Whitson (Rochelle) and Stephen Whitson (Michelle), and his daughters S. Lynne Whitson- Rosemellia (Jim) and Jacqueline MacDonald (Kevin).
His sister: Lori Whitson- Jones and his brother: Michael Whitson (Debbie)
6 Grandsons; Tommy, James, Christopher, Liam, Nicholas and Jaxon.
10 Granddaughters; Ty, Ashlyn, Abigal, Theresa, Kelsie, Sophia, Jamison, Lila, Arianna and Maeve.
Many Nephews, nieces, grand and Great Nephews and nieces, and his aunts, Doris Cook; Jane Fletcher (Ralph) and Joan Townsend
Funeral Mass Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 128 Chester Pk, Norwood.
Friends may call Friday from 6-9 pm and Saturday from 9-9:30am at Kevin M. Lyons Funeral Service, 202 S. Chester Pk, Glenolden, PA.
Burial Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
