Winnie had a long, loving and wonderful marriage to Ed. The family recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary two years ago at a local restaurant. Most of her immediate family were there to enjoy good wishes, fond memories, pictures, and a replica of their original wedding cake.
One of the most important things about Winnie and the Burke-Dougherty family. Winnie was the self-appointed Matriarch of the family. Every family party, with few exceptions, were at Winnie's house, with Winnie doing all or most of the cooking, serving, bartending, spreading the love, with Ed's help and with Kathy doing the dishes, from that tiny kitchen. Inside party or outside party, the whole family invited and showing up, drinking until the wee hours, spending two hours saying goodbye in the Burke tradition.
